I first met Derek in April 1974 at Stoke Mandeville maternity unit, I had just had my daughter Stacy and found a very nice girl in the next bed who had given birth to a baby boy called Jamie. At visiting time a long haired, bearded young man appeared and proceeded to lay on Josie's bed, well in those days visitors didn't even sit on beds unless they were very brave! Derek always was that little bit different II will miss him so much, although we didn't see a lot of each other he was always a part of my life and full of very good advice, even if I didn't take it!
