Spoons

I have so many memories of Derek, of great family holidays and fun get togethers, but my most fond memory is of a rather competitive game of spoons one Christmas. I think Derek and I met our 'competitive' match that day. I can still vividly recall the look of mischief - and determination - as he swooped in for the spoon that was clearly mine! In certain lights, and when I have a tan, you can still see the scar :-) My other enduring memory is of Derek and Josie having a kiss and cuddle in the sea when we were on holiday in France with them. As a fifteen year old I remember thinking it was a bit gross at the time (sorry Josie) however as a thirty-nine year old married mother of two, I now see it very differently. It is a wonderful thing to marry your soulmate and never tire of holding them. Fiona captured it beautifully when she wrote about the twinkle in Derek's eye; that is how I always have, and always will think of him - a twinkle in his eye and a small smile playing around his lips. You could see what a happy soul he was. We'll miss you Derek xxx
